Natural Dye Garden - Explore Plant-Based Pigment (36+ Plant Starts)
If you’ve ever imagined exploring the world of natural dye but aren’t sure where to begin, we’ve got you covered. This garden tray includes 36+ plants in 6 different varieties (some annual, some perennial), known for their pigment producing powers. You’ll be able to imbue all kinds of natural fibers (cotton, linen, silk, wool, hemp, etc.) with hues spanning the entire spectrum: reds and pinks, rich golds and yellows, greens, blues, and purples. You can actually expand the range of these colors further with modifiers such as iron to get grays, darker greens, browns and even black. (Stay tuned for a workshop as well as a “Starter Kit” to show you how!)
Varieties are likely to include: marigold, scabiosa, Hopi black dye sunflower, dyer’s chamomile, scabiosa, madder, indigo, weld, coreopsis, and murasaki.
All plants are cut-and-come-again and grow very well in our climate. The more you harvest, the more they bloom.
You can have the dye garden of your dreams, without all the guesswork, complicated timelines, and seed-starting. We’ve got that stuff covered.
Detailed growing instructions will be provided with each Natural Dye Garden.
